This tips will help you prevent Identity theft, but will not insure it will not happen to you, this is why you have to be very carefull. - Do not throw any document with personal information to the trash, like your name and address, social security number, bank account statmentes, or credit cards. - When using your ATM or phone cards. make sure that nobody is looking over your shoulder, getting your "Pin Number". - Get all your checks deliver to your bank branch, not to your home address. - When mailing bill payments, deliver this directly to the Post Office and not to the mail box on the street. - Keep track of all your account, and cancel all credit account that you have not use within a 12 months, if you do not plan to use them in the near future. - For passwords, always use fictitius words, not your mothe's or your maiden name. - Never carry in your wallet or purse, your social security card, pasport, or other document that could contain numbers or information that could be used to get account on your name. It is better to memorize this numbers. - When using the internet, always make sure that the site is secure before you share any information, and if you have any doubt, do not sand any information at all. - You can review your credit reports, by calling to the 3 credit antities, Experian ( 888-567-8688), Trans Union or Equafax Options. This institutions can give you a credit report without affecting your credit score. - The more open credit accounts that your have on your credit report, more point will be subtracted from your credit score. Every open acconunt may take point away from your total score. - Your credit score depends more on how fast you can pay a debt (this is call credit management), and not on how many credit account you have.
